New England newborn

In Designs by Roger Thomas

I’m so proud of how my team and our collaborators rose to the unique challenges of creating the just-opened Encore Boston Harbor. For those arriving by water, the experience begins on board custom-built shuttles. It continues through a six-acre Harborwalk featuring contemporary sculptures and lavish floral displays. Inside, our guests find fifteen different places to eat and drink, a series of conversation-starting artworks and artifacts and the largest (and I hope the most comfortable) hotel rooms in the region.

I went to college in Boston, so took special interest in mixing in local elements among the kinds of signature flourishes that have always delighted our guests elsewhere.

We have flowers, rich textiles, marbles and mosaics in abundance. We moved brilliant red Murano chandeliers from their original home in Las Vegas.

We included an only-in-Boston eatery created by noted North End restaurant veterans. And offsite, we secured special boxes for our customers at the city’s main sports venues.

I hope the photos entice you to pay Encore Boston Harbor a visit soon. There’s much more to delight the eye – and all your other senses.
