Roger draws inspiration from Teatro alla Scala, inaugurated in 1788. Wealthy Milanese covered the cost of the theatre by purchasing private Palachi for their exclusive use. Decoration of these boxes was lavish and competitive as their grandeur could be viewed from above or below by all who attended.
